The Root Chakra is found at the base of the spine and is the beginning point of your development in this life.

This chakra is associated with the color red and is connected to the element of earth. On the color spectrum, the color red has a slower frequency and is more connected to physical matter and the material world than the other colors. The color red pulls you into the material world. Blood, stop signs, brake lights, and other things that are colored red catch your attention, heighten your sense of awareness, ground you, and bring you more fully into this reality.
Snake Energy
The Root Chakra’s animal energy is like the snake who creates boundaries and warns others of its boundaries and when they are crossed. The snake looks like it has armor but is very flexible as well. The snake stands up for itself and its boundaries. The snake looks like a root. It slithers along the ground feeling grounded, safe, and supported by the earth. Because it honors its boundaries, it feels safe, supported, and able to be at peace in life, and able to maneuver through the world securely and with flexibility.
